ABSTRACT

Introduction. The double scanning technique was originally described in 2019 by Panos Papaspyridakos as a method for the planning and fabricating full-arch implant-supported fixed prosthesis in patients who already had a transitional prosthesis. Objective. To evaluate the double digital scanning technique as an alternative method for taking impression of an implantsupported prosthesis. Case report. Female patient, referred to the oral rehabilitation postgraduate program for the fabrication of a prosthesis on five implants. The double scanning technique was carried out to obtain new design prototypes and a passivity in the testing with stereolithography to verify that the impression was adequate. Results. Passivity was obtained and the approval of a new design for the prosthesis was given by the patient. Also, the prosthetically driven planification of the implants was done. A milled polymethylmethacryl (PMME) transitional prosthesis and new provisionals for the lower teeth were delivered. Conclusions. The double scanning technique is a good alternative to streamline the workflow for the fabrication of full-arch fixed implant-supported prothesis.
