Papular acantholytic dyskeratosis of the genitocrural area

ABSTRACT

Hidradenoma papilliferum is a rare, benign tumor of the apocrine sweat glands. Clinically, it presents as a hemispherical neoformation, with a smooth surface, well-defined edges, skin-colored, brown or erythematous and is most commonly found in the anogenital region. Of the less than 25 published cases of extragenital location, 60% occur in the head and neck. The treatment of choice is surgical excision, with an unusual recurrence rate. To date, there have been no reported cases of malignant transformation. We present a case of hidradenoma papilliferum located on the head.
