ABSTRACT

It is crucial to know the activity and participation of people with spinal cord injury. It is also necessary to identify environmental factors that influence the reintegration process. Analyzing the contextual factors: environmental variables, accessibility, transportation, and the activity and participation, competence or CIF ICIDH-2 (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health). Descriptive survey methods and materials: In patients discharged from the period 2003 to 2007 with a diagnosis of spinal cord injury Rehabilitation Services and Neurological Rehabilitation Education, the implementation of the questionnaire was by doctors and social workers via telephone or personal interview. Results and conclusions: We found that our population is in the productive age group, the majority belonging to the metropolitan area of Mexico City school determine the area of employment but not a factor for recruitment to regular employment, the unemployment of the with spinal cord injury was increased after injury, since the chances of getting a regular job were reduced. Sustaining the economy was primarily through the family support.
