ABSTRACT
An analysis of the most relevant characteristics of chronic cough in children and adults is presented. It is one of the symptoms that most affect the population of all ages and that forces to go to the doctor after receiving multiple treatments. There are various underlying causes that lead to it; however, the diagnosis is rarely reached accurately and in the first visits. The quality of life and the economy of patients and their families are also affected on many occasions. It is proposed to make a thorough approach before establishing any treatment.
