ABSTRACT

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy characterized by systolic ventricular dysfunction, although there may be other left, regional and transitory presentations, usually triggered by an emotional or physical stressful event, mainly in postmenopausal women. It has been associated with cardiotoxicity induced by a catecholamine impulse and microvascular dysfunction as pathogenesis, requiring a differential diagnosis with acute coronary syndrome for timely supportive and symptomatic treatment.
